Valgus collapse, also known as dynamic knee valgus, is a faulty movement pattern characterized by the combination of knee valgus (inward movement), hip adduction and internal rotation, and often ankle pronation during functional activities like landing, squatting, or cutting. This pattern is associated with increased risk of ACL injury, patellofemoral pain, and IT band syndrome, particularly in female athletes. Assessment typically involves observation during single-leg squats, drop jumps, or sport-specific movements. Intervention focuses on strengthening hip external rotators and abductors while improving movement awareness.
