Coxa vara is a hip deformity where the neck-shaft angle of the femur is abnormally decreased (typically less than 120 degrees in adults). This condition can be congenital, developmental, or acquired through trauma, infection, or metabolic disorders. The decreased angle results in limb shortening, altered hip biomechanics, and potential for early arthritis. Symptoms may include limping, decreased range of motion, and hip pain. Surgical correction with valgus osteotomy may be indicated in severe cases.
