Galeazzi fracture

A Galeazzi fracture is a specific injury pattern involving a fracture of the middle to distal third of the radius accompanied by disruption of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ). This injury is sometimes called the 'fracture of necessity' because it almost always requires surgical intervention to achieve acceptable alignment and prevent complications. Recognition of the associated DRUJ injury is crucial, as failure to address this component can lead to chronic instability and poor functional outcomes.
