Cerclage wiring involves the placement of wire loops completely around the circumference of bone to achieve reduction and maintain stability of fractures or to secure prosthetic components. This technique is commonly used for spiral or oblique long bone fractures, periprosthetic fractures, and as an adjunct to other fixation methods. The wires create a compressive force around the bone shaft, helping to maintain reduction and prevent displacement during healing.
