A specialized ventilation technique that delivers small volumes of gas at high pressure and frequency, creating effective ventilation without the need for a traditional endotracheal tube. In pediatric anesthesia, jet ventilation is particularly valuable during procedures requiring shared airway access, such as laryngeal surgery or foreign body removal. The technique allows surgeons unobstructed access to the airway while maintaining adequate gas exchange. However, it requires careful monitoring of chest expansion and carbon dioxide levels, as traditional ventilation parameters may not apply.
