Full Definition
Transient neonatal pustular melanosis is a benign, self-limiting condition affecting newborns, characterized by superficial pustules that rupture soon after birth, leaving behind hyperpigmented macules surrounded by a collarette of scale. The condition is more common in African American infants and may be present at birth or appear within the first few days of life. The pustules are sterile, and the pigmented macules gradually fade over weeks to months.
