Constitutional delay of growth and puberty (CDGP) is a common cause of short stature and delayed puberty in otherwise healthy children. It represents a normal variant of human development where affected children typically have a family history of late bloomers. These children often show delayed bone age, below-average height during childhood, and late onset of puberty, but eventually achieve normal adult height and complete pubertal development. CDGP is more common in boys than girls and is diagnosed by excluding pathological causes of growth delay. Treatment may involve reassurance and monitoring, though some cases may benefit from short-term hormone therapy to address psychosocial concerns.
