Bagolini striated glasses

A binocular vision test using glasses with fine striations to assess suppression, diplopia, and abnormal retinal correspondence.

Full Definition

Bagolini striated glasses contain fine parallel lines etched into plano lenses, creating a linear streak of light when viewing a point source. The striations are oriented at different angles for each eye (typically 45° and 135°), allowing assessment of binocular visual function under nearly normal viewing conditions. Normal binocular vision produces a cross pattern, while suppression results in seeing only one line. The test can detect central suppression, abnormal retinal correspondence, and small-angle strabismus that may not be apparent with other tests. Unlike the Worth 4-dot test, Bagolini glasses maintain fusion stimuli and provide more natural testing conditions.
