Juvenile idiopathic arthritis-associated uveitis (JIA-associated uveitis) is a serious ocular complication that develops in approximately 10-15% of children with JIA. This chronic anterior uveitis is typically asymptomatic in its early stages, making regular screening essential for early detection. The condition predominantly affects young girls with oligoarticular JIA who are ANA-positive. If undetected and untreated, it can lead to serious complications including cataracts, glaucoma, band keratopathy, and vision loss.
