Blount disease, also known as tibia vara, is a growth disorder characterized by abnormal development of the medial aspect of the proximal tibial growth plate, resulting in progressive genu varum (bow-legs). The condition is classified into infantile (onset before age 4) and adolescent forms (onset after age 10), with different etiologies and treatment approaches. Infantile Blount disease is associated with early walking, obesity, and certain ethnic groups. The condition is staged using the Langenskiöld classification system based on radiographic changes in the proximal tibia.
