FAST (Fast Acquisition Steady-state Technique) sequences are specialized MRI pulse sequences designed to minimize acquisition time while maintaining diagnostic image quality. In pediatric radiology, these sequences are particularly valuable for reducing motion artifacts in uncooperative or sedated children. FAST sequences use steady-state free precession techniques to provide excellent contrast resolution with short repetition times, making them ideal for cardiac imaging, angiography, and abdominal studies in the pediatric population.
