Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-CCP) antibodies are autoantibodies directed against citrullinated proteins, serving as highly specific markers for rheumatoid arthritis. In pediatric rheumatology, anti-CCP antibodies are primarily found in polyarticular RF-positive JIA, where they indicate a more erosive disease course similar to adult rheumatoid arthritis. These antibodies are more specific than rheumatoid factor and may be present years before clinical symptoms develop.
