The Childhood Health Assessment Questionnaire Disability Index (CHAQ-DI) is a validated instrument that measures functional disability in children with rheumatic diseases. It consists of 30 items across eight functional domains including dressing, arising, eating, walking, hygiene, reach, grip, and activities. Each domain is scored from 0 (no difficulty) to 3 (unable to do), with the overall CHAQ-DI score representing the mean of the eight domain scores. The instrument includes adjustments for age-appropriate limitations and use of aids or devices.
