Enthesitis is inflammation of the enthesis, the specialized tissue where tendons, ligaments, or joint capsules insert into bone. In pediatric rheumatology, enthesitis is a hallmark feature of enthesitis-related arthritis and other spondyloarthropathies. Common sites include the Achilles tendon insertion, plantar fascia insertion at the heel, and around the patella. Clinical examination may reveal tenderness, swelling, or pain with movement at these attachment sites.
