This procedure is typically performed in children with small, high-pressure bladders due to neurogenic dysfunction, exstrophy-epispadias complex, or other congenital conditions. While effective for achieving continence and protecting upper urinary tract function, enterocystoplasty carries risks including metabolic acidosis, malignancy, and mucus production.
