A common respiratory disorder occurring in newborns, particularly those born by cesarean section or prematurely, characterized by rapid breathing due to delayed absorption of fetal lung fluid. The condition typically presents within hours of birth with tachypnea, mild retractions, and occasionally grunting, but generally resolves within 24-72 hours as the fluid is absorbed. While usually benign, TTN requires monitoring to distinguish it from more serious respiratory conditions requiring intervention.
