Kinesiology Tape

Pronunciation: kih-nee-see-AH-loh-jee

Elastic therapeutic tape used to support muscles and joints while allowing full range of motion.

Full Definition

Kinesiology tape, also known as kinesio tape or K-tape, is a thin, stretchy, cotton-based therapeutic tape designed to support injured muscles and joints without restricting movement. Unlike traditional athletic tape, kinesiology tape can be worn for several days and is water-resistant. Physical therapists apply it using specific techniques to reduce pain, decrease swelling, improve circulation, and provide proprioceptive feedback to enhance movement patterns.

Usage

Usage note: Can be written as one word 'kinesiotape' or hyphenated 'kinesio-tape' but 'kinesiology tape' is preferred.
