The Baker grading system is a widely accepted classification system used to assess the severity of capsular contracture around breast implants. Grade I represents a normal, soft breast; Grade II shows minimal firmness; Grade III indicates moderate to severe firmness with possible shape distortion; and Grade IV represents severe contracture with pain, firmness, and significant distortion. This standardized system helps surgeons communicate findings, plan treatment, and compare outcomes across different studies and practice settings.
