Poland syndrome is a rare birth defect characterized by underdevelopment or absence of the pectoralis major muscle on one side of the body, often accompanied by underdevelopment of the breast, nipple, and areola. The condition may also involve webbing of the fingers (syndactyly) on the affected side. Reconstructive surgery typically involves muscle transfer, breast reconstruction, and sometimes rib cartilage grafting to restore chest wall contour and symmetry.
