A standardised clinical assessment tool used to predict prosthetic functional outcome and appropriate K-level classification in lower-limb amputees, available in versions with and without a prosthesis.

Full Definition

The Amputee Mobility Predictor (AMP) exists in two versions: the AMPnoPRO (administered without a prosthesis) and the AMPpro (administered with a prosthesis). Both assess balance, transfers, and ambulation tasks to generate a score correlated with prospective functional level. Editors must note that while 'AMP' is an acceptable abbreviation, it is easily confused with the unrelated electrical unit 'amp' and must always be contextualised clearly in prosthetics documents. The tool informs K-level assignment and is frequently cited in prior authorisation letters to justify componentry. Results are reported as numeric scores, and specific cut-off values correspond to K-level predictions.
