The Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale - Self-assessment (MADRS-S) is a nine-item self-rated version of the clinician-administered MADRS. It was developed to allow patients to assess their own depressive symptoms using the same conceptual framework as the original MADRS. Each item is rated on a 7-point scale (0-6), with total scores ranging from 0 to 54. The MADRS-S has demonstrated good psychometric properties and is frequently used in psychiatric research as a patient-reported outcome measure for depression severity.
