GAF
Also written as: GAF — Global Assessment of Functioning
A numeric scale formerly used to assess psychological, social, and occupational functioning, now largely replaced by WHODAS 2.0.
Full Definition
The Global Assessment of Functioning scale, which rated overall psychological, social, and occupational functioning on a scale of 1-100. While removed from DSM-5, GAF scores may still appear in historical psychiatric records and some clinical contexts. Editors should note that current practice favors the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 (WHODAS 2.0) for functional assessment documentation.
Usage
Usage note: Note that GAF is largely historical; current assessments typically use WHODAS 2.0 or other measures.
