The thoracodorsal vessels, consisting of the thoracodorsal artery and vein, are located in the axillary region and serve as alternative recipient vessels for microsurgical breast reconstruction. These vessels typically have excellent caliber and flow characteristics, making them suitable for free flap anastomosis. The thoracodorsal vessels may be used when internal mammary vessels are unavailable due to previous surgery, radiation, or anatomical considerations. Access is gained through the axillary approach, often in conjunction with latissimus dorsi flap harvest or as standalone recipient vessels.
