Full Definition

Sleep efficiency calculation is the standard method for quantifying sleep quality by dividing total sleep time by total time in bed and multiplying by 100 to express as a percentage. Normal sleep efficiency is generally considered 85% or higher in healthy adults. This metric is automatically calculated in polysomnographic reports and provides an objective measure of sleep consolidation that can track treatment response and disease progression.
