An abnormal electrocardiographic finding characterized by progressive widening of the QRS complex duration during exercise testing, typically defined as an increase of 20ms or more from baseline. This finding may indicate underlying conduction system disease, exercise-induced ischemia, electrolyte abnormalities, or drug effects. In sports cardiology, exercise-induced QRS widening in athletes warrants careful evaluation as it may represent subclinical cardiac pathology that could predispose to arrhythmias during intense physical activity. The significance depends on the degree of widening, associated symptoms, and recovery characteristics.
