A electrocardiographic finding characterized by horizontal or downsloping depression of the ST segment of 1mm or more during exercise testing, typically measured 60-80 milliseconds after the J point. In sports cardiology, this finding requires careful interpretation as it may indicate underlying coronary artery disease, but can also occur in athletes due to factors such as electrolyte imbalances, medications, or baseline repolarization abnormalities. The significance depends on the magnitude, morphology, duration, associated symptoms, and recovery characteristics of the ST depression.
