Steam quality is a fundamental parameter in steam sterilization that measures the proportion of vapor to liquid water in steam, expressed as dryness fraction or percentage. Steam quality also encompasses chemical purity, requiring steam to be free from additives, volatile substances, and non-condensable gases that could interfere with sterilization or leave harmful residues on instruments.
