A tumor pseudocapsule is a fibrous layer that forms around certain tumors due to compression of surrounding normal tissues, creating the appearance of encapsulation. Unlike a true capsule, this structure does not provide an effective barrier to tumor spread and may contain microscopic tumor extensions. Surgical dissection along the pseudocapsule plane may result in positive margins and increased risk of local recurrence.
