A diagnostic imaging technique where contrast material is injected retrograde (against normal urine flow) through a catheter placed in the ureter via cystoscopy. This procedure provides detailed visualization of the ureter and renal collecting system, particularly useful for detecting urothelial tumors, strictures, or other pathology that may not be clearly seen on standard imaging. In urologic oncology, retrograde ureterography helps stage urothelial carcinoma and plan surgical approaches.
