A surgical procedure performed through the urethra using a resectoscope to remove bladder tumors without making external incisions. This technique allows for both diagnosis and treatment of bladder cancer, providing tissue for histopathologic examination while potentially removing all visible tumor. TURBT is the initial treatment for most bladder cancers and may be curative for non-muscle-invasive disease.
