Voiding cystourethrography (VCUG) is a fluoroscopic imaging study that evaluates the bladder and urethra during the filling and voiding phases of micturition. Contrast material is instilled into the bladder through a catheter, and X-ray images are obtained during bladder filling and emptying. This study is the gold standard for diagnosing vesicoureteral reflux and evaluating posterior urethral valves, urethral strictures, and bladder dysfunction.
