A post-processing technique that displays the minimum pixel values along a ray path through volumetric data.

Full Definition

Minimum intensity projection (MinIP) is a 3D rendering technique used in medical imaging that selects and displays the lowest intensity voxel values encountered along ray paths cast through volumetric datasets. Unlike maximum intensity projection (MIP), MinIP is particularly useful for visualizing low-attenuation structures such as air-filled spaces, cystic lesions, or areas of decreased perfusion. In vascular imaging, MinIP can help identify vessel occlusions, areas of diminished enhancement, or air emboli. This technique requires careful window and level settings to optimize visualization of the structures of interest.
