PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is a biocompatible synthetic polymer widely used as graft material in vascular surgery. This fluorinated plastic offers excellent biocompatibility, thromboresistance, and durability, making it suitable for arterial and venous reconstructions. PTFE grafts are particularly valuable when autologous vein is unavailable or unsuitable, and they come in various configurations including straight tubes, tapered designs, and reinforced versions for different surgical applications.
