Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty is a minimally invasive endovascular procedure used to treat arterial stenosis or occlusion. The procedure involves inserting a catheter with an inflatable balloon through the skin into the affected vessel, then inflating the balloon to compress plaque against vessel walls and restore luminal diameter. PTA may be performed alone or in combination with stent placement.
