Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an advanced intravascular imaging technique that uses near-infrared light to generate high-resolution cross-sectional images of coronary arteries. With axial resolution of 10-15 micrometers, OCT provides superior detail compared to intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) for assessing plaque characteristics, stent deployment, and vascular healing.
