Full Definition
An Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) is a legally mandated document under IDEA Part C that describes the early intervention services for children from birth to age 3 who have developmental delays or established disabilities. The IFSP is developed by a multidisciplinary team including the family and outlines the child's current developmental levels, family priorities and concerns, expected outcomes, specific services to be provided, service delivery methods, and transition plans. Unlike an IEP, the IFSP focuses on the entire family system, recognizing that supporting the family enhances the child's development. The plan is reviewed every six months and updated annually.
