The Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) is a comprehensive rating instrument developed to follow the longitudinal course of Parkinson's disease. The scale consists of four parts: Part I (mentation, behavior, mood), Part II (activities of daily living), Part III (motor examination), and Part IV (complications of therapy). In clinical neurophysiology, UPDRS scores are often correlated with neurophysiological findings such as deep brain stimulation parameters, EMG patterns during movement disorders, and sleep study abnormalities. The scale provides objective measures for research and clinical monitoring.
