A protein biomarker used to diagnose and monitor neuroendocrine tumors.

Full Definition

Chromogranin A (CgA) is a glycoprotein found in secretory vesicles of neuroendocrine cells and serves as a widely used biomarker for neuroendocrine tumors. Elevated serum levels can indicate the presence of NETs and are used for both initial diagnosis and monitoring treatment response. However, CgA levels can also be elevated in other conditions and with certain medications, requiring careful interpretation in clinical context.
