DOTATATE (DOTA-Tyr3-octreotate) is a somatostatin analog that can be radiolabeled with different isotopes for either diagnostic imaging or therapeutic purposes. When labeled with gallium-68, it provides superior PET imaging of somatostatin receptor-positive neuroendocrine tumors. When labeled with lutetium-177, it serves as the therapeutic agent in peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT). This compound has high affinity for somatostatin receptor subtype 2, which is overexpressed in most neuroendocrine tumors.
