Peptide receptor imaging encompasses nuclear medicine procedures that utilize radiolabeled peptides targeting somatostatin receptors expressed on neuroendocrine tumor cells. The most commonly used agents include 68Ga-DOTATOC, 68Ga-DOTATATE, and 68Ga-DOTANOC for PET/CT imaging, as well as 111In-octreotide for SPECT imaging. These imaging modalities are highly sensitive and specific for detecting NETs throughout the body, superior to conventional imaging for staging and restaging. The technique has revolutionized NET management by enabling early detection of disease, assessment of receptor expression for treatment planning, and monitoring of treatment response.
