Clear cell carcinoma is a distinct histological subtype of epithelial ovarian cancer, comprising approximately 5-10% of cases. These tumors are characterized by cells with clear, glycogen-rich cytoplasm and are often associated with endometriosis. Clear cell carcinomas tend to be more resistant to standard platinum-based chemotherapy compared to high-grade serous carcinomas and generally carry a worse prognosis, particularly in advanced stages.
