A cytology report is a pathologist's interpretation of cellular material obtained through various sampling methods, most commonly cervical cytology from Pap smears in gynecological practice. These reports follow standardized formats such as the Bethesda System for cervical cytology, providing information about specimen adequacy, interpretation, and recommendations for follow-up care. The report includes findings ranging from normal to various degrees of abnormality that may indicate infection, inflammation, or precancerous changes.
