pneumoperitoneum pressure

The intra-abdominal pressure maintained during laparoscopic surgery, typically 12-15 mmHg in adults.

Full Definition

The controlled pressure of CO₂ gas maintained within the peritoneal cavity during minimally invasive procedures. Standard pressure ranges from 12-15 mmHg in adults, 8-12 mmHg in pediatric patients. Proper pressure management prevents patient discomfort while maintaining adequate visualization. Excessive pressure can compromise venous return and respiratory function.

Usage

Usage note: Always specify pressure units (mmHg) when editing surgical documentation.
