A radiant warmer is an open medical device that uses overhead infrared heating elements to maintain normal body temperature in newborns while allowing unrestricted access for medical procedures and assessment. Unlike incubators, radiant warmers do not provide a closed environment, making them ideal for initial stabilization, procedures, and care of infants who require frequent interventions. Temperature is regulated by skin temperature sensors that automatically adjust heat output.
