Craniospinal radiation is a specialized radiotherapy technique that delivers radiation to the entire central nervous system, including the whole brain and complete spinal cord. This treatment is primarily used for tumors with high risk of cerebrospinal fluid dissemination, such as medulloepithelioma, embryonal tumors, and some high-grade ependymomas. The technique requires sophisticated treatment planning to ensure adequate dose coverage while minimizing toxicity to organs such as the thyroid, heart, and developing skeleton in pediatric patients.
