Also written as: TICI — Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction

A grading scale (0-3) used to assess reperfusion success following endovascular stroke treatment.

Full Definition

The Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction score is a standardized angiographic assessment tool that grades the degree of reperfusion achieved during endovascular stroke treatment. The scale ranges from TICI 0 (no reperfusion) to TICI 3 (complete reperfusion). TICI 2b (>50% reperfusion) and TICI 3 are considered successful reperfusion and are associated with better clinical outcomes compared to TICI 0, 1, or 2a.

Usage

Usage note: Always specify the numeric grade (0, 1, 2a, 2b, 3) when documenting

In Context

  • "Final angiography demonstrated TICI 2b reperfusion of the left MCA territory." — Procedure report
  • "The patient achieved TICI 3 reperfusion after mechanical thrombectomy." — Interventional report
