Contact cycling protocols specify the timing, sequence, and parameters for switching between different electrode configurations, allowing previously stimulated neural regions to recover while activating alternative pathways. This approach is particularly valuable in applications where long-term efficacy maintenance is challenging due to neural adaptation mechanisms.
