Perivascular pseudorosettes are histological features where tumor cell processes extend radially toward blood vessels, creating a spoke-wheel pattern around vascular structures. This arrangement is highly characteristic of ependymal neoplasms and represents the tumor cells' attempt to recapitulate normal ependymal cell polarity. The term 'pseudorosette' distinguishes this pattern from true rosettes, which have central lumina. Recognition of this pattern is essential for accurate brain tumor classification.
