Full Definition
A fetal presentation where the buttocks and/or feet present first at the cervix instead of the normal vertex (head-down) position. There are three types: frank breech (hips flexed, knees straight), complete or full breech (both hips and knees flexed), and incomplete or partial breech (one or both feet present first). Breech presentation occurs in about 3-4% of all pregnancies and is more common in premature infants. Delivery options include vaginal delivery (in selected cases) or cesarean section, depending on various factors including fetal size, maternal pelvis, and provider experience.
