Interdental wiring is a technique used to achieve intermaxillary fixation by placing wires around individual teeth or groups of teeth to stabilize the jaws in a specific relationship. This method is commonly used in the treatment of mandibular and maxillary fractures to maintain proper occlusion during healing. Various techniques include Ivy loops, Risdon cables, and arch bars with elastic or wire ties. The technique requires adequate dental support and patient compliance. Complications may include oral hygiene difficulties, dental damage, and nutritional challenges due to dietary limitations during the immobilization period.
